Kardiocentrum patří mezi nejaktivnější pracoviště v kardiovaskulárním klinickém výzkumu nejen v rámci České republiky, ale i v rámci mezinárodním. Výzkum je zaměřen na zlepšování diagnostiky, léčby a prevence většiny kardiovaskulárních nemocí: ischemické choroby srdeční včetně infarktu myokardu, ischemické cévní mozkové příhody, poruch srdečního rytmu, ischemické choroby dolních končetin, plicní embolie, srdečních vad aj.
V Kardiocentru jsou řešeny četné národní i mezinárodní výzkumné projekty a granty. Pracovníci Kardiocentra jsou aktivní ve výborech lékařských odborných společností a v redakčních radách předních odborných časopisů.
